Meet Dr. Christopher Ban
Dr. Christopher Ban was born and raised in Pittsburgh, and is an alumnus of North Allegheny High School. He graduated jointly from the Honors College and the School of Architecture at the University of Notre Dame. After completing his degree, he attended Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston, Massachusetts, where he earned his DMD, as well as several Dean’s Scholarships for academic excellence. He completed his residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Cincinnati with distinction, producing several nationally published articles, including the Journal of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. He has traveled to Bangalore, India, to work with with surgeons from Smile Train, an international charity devoted to helping children born with cleft lip and palate.
Dr. Ban is Associate Professor of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery at the Univ. of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine. He is on call for and treats facial trauma at UPMC-Presbyterian, UPMC-Mercy, and Pittsburgh Children’s Hospital. Additionally, he is on the medical staff at Allegheny General Hospital, Heritage Valley Health in Beaver, and UPMC-Passavant.
Dr. Ban practices the full scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery, with particular interest in virtual treatment planning for implant and orthognathic surgery. He also provides treatment and management in the following areas:
– Dentoalveolar Surgery – 3rd molar (wisdom teeth) extractions, crown lengthening, apicoectomy, etc.
– Implant & Preprosthetic surgery – 3D treatment planning, sinus/ridge augmentation, soft tissue grafts, et al.
– Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ) Surgery, including Total Joint Replacement
– Orthognathic Surgery and correction of dentofacial deformities
– Pathology and Reconstructive Surgery
– Trauma Surgery
– Cosmetic Surgery: Scar revision, Botox and filler injections
Dr. Ban has also completed extensive training in anesthesiology at the University of Cincinnati Medical center and the prestigious Cincinnati Children’s Hospital. He is pleased to offer both adult and pediatric sedation and anesthesia at both of our offices.
Dr. Ban is a member of the American College of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons and of the American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons.
Dr. Ban’s personal interests include rowing, blues piano, Fighting Irish football and basketball, art, and architecture. He looks forward to working with you to provide you with the best possible care!
